What should we do without a newspaper?

How dull life woud be, if we did not know what was going on around us. The newspaper give us news of everything and of everybody. We see there the conditions of the markets, the exchange the steamers that arrive and depart, the plays that are on at the theatres, and the films showing at the picture-houses.
In the society columns, we read the births, marriages, and deaths; fashion news, recepitions, ball, and the arrivals and departures of well-'known people.
The foreign telegrams bring itens of news from all parts of the word; so we can accompany the affairs of foreign countries quite easily.
For those interested in politics, there is alwys something to read; the speeches of the different members of the government, their plans etc.
There are also illustrated papers; fashion papers, bringing the latest fashions; the film reviews, all illustrated; besides the literary reviews. The Sunday editions of the principal newspapers alwys bring a supplement, with some good articles, short poems and short stories.
To find servants sell and buy all kinds of second-hand goods, people have recourse to the newspapers, on account of the advertisements; very often they find what they require so you see, the newspapers are useful to everybody.
