                  EXPANDING YOUR VOCABULARY

LESSON 19

The last time I visited London, I stayed at the Savoy Hotel. This hotel is richly furnished, and accomodation for several hundred people. It is much frequented by Brazilians visiting London.
When I arrived there, I went to the office to ask for a small apartment. To get there, I had to pass through a wide vestibule, where many travellers were arriving, othere departing.
The manager gave an employé the keys of the apartment he had kept for me, and accompanied by him, I went up in the lift, to the third floor.
The corridors were laid with carpets; and when I reached my room, I found it as comfortable as I could wish; it was large, with two big windows, from which I had a good view, and led into a modern bathroom, provided with all possible comfort.
After tow or three days, I could see that the cooking was good, the staff and waitrs well trained, and the charges very reasonable; so I decided to remain there during my stay in London, which was six weeks.
I have recomended the hotel to several people going to London, and I hope they will be as satisfied as I was.
