LESSON 14
Edith is going to be niarried soon and is preparing her trousseau. What a lot of pretty things she is having madel.
Formerly, nearly all the girls sent to Paris for their trousseaux, but now it is not necessary, as they make beautiful underclothes here in Brazil.
Edith has divided the work among several people; the convents have accepted the house-linen, which is in while and in colours to embroider the monograms. The Pequena Cruzada has 6 sets of underclothes, esch of a different colour and trimmed with fine Iace. She went with her friend Ruth to give the order.
She has engaged the services of a good dressmaker to wark at her house, for the simple dresses and dressing-gowns. She has also several dresses being made by her own dressmaker. An aunt of hers, who is at present in Europe, will bring her some evening gowns, an opera cloak, a fur, a sports suit, and a light raincoat.
Her stockings she will buy here, as stockings are very good and she always has her shoes made to measure. She has given the order for black, white, grey, brown, and dark blue shoes to be made. She has white ones to wear on her wedding-night.
Oh! I forgot to mention the pyjamas which are being made to match the sets of underclothes.
I am anxious to see all these pretty clothes.
