If we wish to enjoy good health, have a clear skin, and purify our blood we must eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, as these contain vitamins.
Many people, young people in particular, do not like vegetables, while others eat only vegetables. These people are vegetarians.
There are many waya of cooking vegetables and marking them very tasty. Soups made with vegetables are very nourishing: well prepared disres of meat and vegetables are alwaya appetising.
Salads of lettuce, beetroot, cucumber, and tomatoes, or of cooked vegetables, help to open the appetite; especially in the hot wather when people do not find it agreeable to eat, because of the heat.
Most people like fruits; some fruits are pulpy, others are juicy: fruits can be eaten raw or stewed, in tarts or a pies; and in summer, what can be more refreshing than fruit ices or a well iced fruit salad.
Brazil is very rich in fruits, bananas and oranges are exported to Europe in great quantities. Brazil also imports fruits from the Argentine and the United States: - Apples, Pears and Plums.
Uripe fruit should be avoided, as it is very dangerous; often, an unripe fruit can cause a very serious illness.
Fruit juice, strained and sweetened if necessary, nourishes and helps to strengthen invalids.
